5 BOLLYWOOD ROM-COM THAT ARE UNDERRATED

For many years the Hindi film industry has been making movies. They are well known for making fantasies riddle with cliche, overused plot points, many whistle-worthy moments, overall a masala movie. But that’s not it. There are many movies in Bollywood that are not the same and also don’t have the same stories over and over again. But the problem with the audience is that they don’t watch such movies nor appreciate it rather waste their time and money to catch their favourite stars in multiplexes and end up watching the same kind of movie. Though the stars never disappoint us because they deliver exactly what they promised, a very hopeless and the same kind of masala movie!

However every now and then there comes some quality kind of cinema. It’s just that we don’t get to hear about them because of the less budget of the movie there is less promotion compared to the other stars movies hence such movies get neglected and are considered underrated movies. In this list there are some rom-com movies that are totally underrated but have a great storyline, different plot twists and also good music which one should surely watch.

1. DAAWAT- E- ISHQ: The very first movie in our list is dawat-e- ishq. It is an underrated movie of Bollywood. It highlights the topic of the dowry system in India. The film is directed by Habib Faisal. The character played by Aditya is very lovable, so is Parineeti’s! The songs of the film are good. It takes you back to the 90s when the songs used to be magical and not a remake. It bashes the so-called dowry system in India and also opens up on the fact that marriages are built upon pure love and not money. The storyline of the movie will keep you entertaining. Though the film is quite dramatic the main motive of the film is expressed with sincerity. It is a must watch movie with a great message. The movie will keep you engaged and you won’t feel bored. 2. HASEE TOH PHASEE: I know most of you must have heard the songs of this movie which are totally amazing and maybe they are still one of your favourite songs of all time. Also I’m pretty sure that many must have not watched this amazing movie. ‘Hasee toh phasee’ is a very lighthearted film. The comedy is neither loud or hilarious, yet good. It has an amazing screenplay, a very fresh love story and is perfectly directed. Parineeti and Siddharth have done justice to their role. This movie is always fun watching and a complete family entertainer. It’s a simple romcom which would leave you smiling by the end of the movie. If you are fond of simple and non-regular love stories then certainly watch it. In fact, it’s something you would love to watch again and again. The movie is available on Netflix.
3. BAREILLY KI BARFI: ‘Bareilly ki barfi’ is an absolutely delightful movie to watch. The movie is based on a love triangle which moves around the three characters Bitti, Chirag and Pritam, which are played by Kriti, Rajkumar and Ayushman. Rajkumar Rao has hopped all the limelight for his performance in the film. But when it comes to the character of Ayushman we can relate more with it. Throughout the movie, you would keep laughing and thinking what would happen next. Also the acting of Kriti is great. She fits in the role very well and also looks pretty well. The dialogue is well written which makes you laugh out loud. Also the music of the film is too good. The story is simple yet a treat to watch. Overall it’s a nice rom-com which you can enjoy with your family. It’s a family entertainer. The movie is available on Netflix.
4. I HATE LUV STORYS: ‘I hate luv storys’ is one of the most underrated movies. Though the film is very entertaining. The movie is simply fun, exciting and effortless to watch. The cast of the film includes Sonam Kapoor and Imran Khan. The story revolves around the characters of Simran and Jay who work in filmmaking. The songs of this movie are the best part of the film. Almost all the songs of the film are too good. Even in the serious time of the movie comedy isn’t missed. The movie will keep you entertained full out the time. So don’t waste your time and watch the movie on Netflix right now.
5. BREAK KE BAAD: The last movie in the list is ‘break ke baad’ yet another good rom-com which is fully underrated. The picturization of this movie is pleasant and soothing . Also the location of the film is cool. It is a simple story of love, about couples growing up together. It shows how the main characters work on their relationship out, despite the distance. The cast of the film includes the very beautiful Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan who have performed well as always. If you are looking for something simple and funny you would love this film. Overall, I would say that rather than just appreciating the big stars, we should start to appreciate movies that are underrated and it’s high time we should know where we should spend our most valuable time and money.
